NHPC Limited has declared the commercial operation of three units of its Parbati-II Hydroelectric Project in Himachal Pradesh, a major milestone in India's renewable energy journey. From April 1, 2025, the project will provide 600 MW of green electricity to several states, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Operational Units: Units 1, 2, and 3, with capacities to produce 200 MW each, have been completed with trial runs successfully and are presently operational. Commissioning of the fourth unit is to be announced shortly.

Project Details: Parbati-II Hydroelectric Project is a run-of-the-river scheme to tap the hydro potential of the lower course of the River Parbati. It comprises a Concrete Gravity Dam at Pulga village and a 31.52 km Head Race Tunnel to a powerhouse in Suind village.

Beneficiary States: The project will benefit Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, J&K, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh.
