Nissan has renewed its interest in the Indian market, introducing a bold roadmap with new model launches, more local production, and enlarged exports. While restructuring globally, Nissan India has remained committed to expansion, with three new models to be launched and doubling of production capacity by 2027.

  • 7-Seater SUV (Early 2027) – Contrary to conventional 5+2 configurations, this model will be a genuine family mover, rivaling Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari2.
2. Production and Export Expansion
  • Nissan aims to double production capacity to 200,000 units by 2027, of which half will be for exports.
  • The company will spend $700 million on new product innovation, localization, and dealership expansion.
  • The Magnite SUV, already shipped to 65+ countries, remains a key enabler of Nissan's global strategy.
3. Strategic Powertrain Shift
  • Nissan India will concentrate on petrol and CNG variants, excluding diesel engines in view of cost and regulatory restrictions.
  • The firm is taking concrete steps toward hybrid and EV offerings, including a pure electric vehicle in the works2.
4. Future Outlook and Market Positioning
  • Nissan has ambitions to grow its dealership footprint from 160 to 180 stores by 2025 end.
  • The company is not going anywhere, quelling exit rumors and reiterating its long-term commitment to the country.
