The Government of Tamil Nadu has launched the Nutrition Farming Mission, a Rs 125 crore scheme that aims to increase nutritional security and revenue for farmers. This program will be undertaken in 2025-26 from both Union and State funds. The mission is centered on encouraging the growth of vegetables, fruits, pulses, and minor millets as a source of indispensable nutrients for good health. Vegetable seed kits will be given to 15 lakh families at a subsidy of 75%, and fruit plant kits will be given to nine lakh families. The area under the important vegetable crops will also be increased by 14,000 acres, and fruits will be encouraged in 12,000 acres. This project will provide a consistent supply of healthy food and benefit farmers through increased production.
