Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched the ambitious Mukhyamantri Suposhan Yojana to turn Uttar Pradesh into a malnutrition-free state. The scheme, announced after a top-level review with the child development and nutrition department, will serve nutritious morning meals to children between 3-6 years of age, particularly those belonging to poor families covered under the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Zero Poverty Mission.

Key Highlights:

Healthy morning breakfasts-including milk, fruit, and other essential healthy food items-will be provided to children between 3-6 years old at Anganwadi centers.

The scheme is focused on children of poor households, especially in aspirational districts and development blocks, for greater inclusivity and coverage.

All 75 districts will set up Take Home Ration (THR) units, compared to the existing 204 units in 43 districts, to provide support to every eligible child.

Local foods such as amla (Indian gooseberry), millets, and jaggery will be integrated into recipe-based THR, improving both nutrition and local livelihood.

Regular monitoring of nutrition indicators such as stunting, underweight, and wasting will be performed to assess impact and inform improvement.

The Mukhyamantri Nirashrit Govansh Sahbhagita Yojana will complement the effort by offering cows to livestock-less families to encourage milk-based nutrition.

CM Yogi has also highlighted total transparency and quality checks during the production, packaging, and supply of THR.

The scheme is an extension of the success of the Sambhav Abhiyan, reiterating the government's commitment towards a "Malnutrition-Free Uttar Pradesh."
