Odisha has introduced a mobile application to track fly ash transportation in real time, aiming to strengthen environmental monitoring and accountability. Developed by the State Pollution Control Board in collaboration with IIT Bhubaneswar, the app will initially cover four major power plants before expanding statewide.
In a significant step toward sustainable environmental management, the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), in partnership with IIT Bhubaneswar, has launched a mobile app to monitor fly ash transportation across the state. The initiative was unveiled by outgoing Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, who emphasized its role in ensuring transparency and reducing environmental risks associated with improper disposal.
The app has been field-tested and will be immediately implemented in four power plants: Aditya Aluminum in Lapanga, JSW Bhushan Ltd in Thelkoloi, Vedanta Ltd in Jharsuguda, and Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) in Banharpali. The rollout will gradually extend to other plants, creating a comprehensive monitoring network.
