Ola Electric has commenced deliveries of its S1 Pro+ electric scooter, powered by the indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell. Certified by ARAI, the 5.2 kWh battery marks a major milestone in India’s EV ecosystem, reducing import dependence and advancing Ola’s vision of full vertical integration in clean mobility.
Ola Electric has officially begun deliveries of its latest electric scooter, the S1 Pro+, featuring the company’s first in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack. This 5.2 kWh lithium-ion cell, designed and manufactured entirely by Ola, recently received certification from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) under the AIS-156 Amendment 4 safety standards.
The launch of the S1 Pro+ marks a significant step in Ola’s strategy to localize its EV supply chain and reduce reliance on imported battery cells. Until now, Ola’s scooters were powered by externally sourced cells. The new Bharat Cell not only enhances performance and safety but also aligns with India’s push for self-reliant clean energy solutions.
Founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal emphasized that the move reflects Ola’s commitment to building a fully integrated EV ecosystem—from cell manufacturing to vehicle delivery. The S1 Pro+ is expected to offer improved range, faster charging, and better thermal management, making it a compelling choice for urban commuters.
