Monday, June 30, 2025, will witness the Mizoram capital city Aizawl's banks closed due to Remna Ni, the Mizoram Peace Accord signing anniversary in 1986. It's a day to celebrate a landmark in the state's history, an end to decades of insurgency and the beginning of peaceful governance.
Bank Closure:
All the banks in Aizawl, both public sector and private sector, are closed today as per the Reserve Bank of India holiday calendar under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
State Specific Holiday
The shutdown is confined to Mizoram only, whereas the other banks in the rest of India are functioning normally.
Active Digital Banking
Even when physical branch closures take place, UPI, internet banking, mobile banking, and ATMs remain accessible to customers in Mizoram and everywhere else.
Future Closures
-
July 3: Agartala banks are closed due to Kharchi Puja.
-
5th July: Jammu and Srinagar bank branches will remain shut on Guru Hargobind Ji's birthday.
-
July 6: General Sunday holiday throughout India.
-
Advisory:
Mizoram customers are asked to arrange personal banking accordingly and utilize online platforms for ongoing services.
Remna Ni is a poignant reminder of reconciliation and peace—and today, Mizoram's banking sector is a part of silent reflection.
