Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the highest civilian award of Mauritius, The Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean, the first time for an Indian receiving such a high award. Home Minister Amit Shah welcomed the award as "another honour to his global statesmanship.".
During his visit to Mauritius, PM Modi spoke to the Indian diaspora, emphasizing the historical bond between the two nations. Apart from that, he also launched various India-funded projects, such as a Civil Services College and community infrastructure, solidifying bilateral ties.
This award recognizes the efforts of PM Modi in international relationship building, especially with regional Indian Ocean countries, and signals his focus towards developing global connections.
