Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 in Mumbai with an emphasis towards India's growing image as the world creative giant. Addressing over 10,000 global delegates from over 100+ nations, Modi declared, "Screen size may be getting smaller, but the scope is infinite," emphasizing micro screens delivering mega messages in the current digital era.
He called upon India's young creators-from artists in Guwahati to game developers in Bengaluru-to drive the Orange Economy, which is expanding rapidly in films, music, gaming, animation, and digital content. Modi also chose to open the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) in Mumbai, which would incubate media and entertainment talent.
The summit showcases India's vision of becoming a digital innovation, entertainment, and media hub for the world, where the animation sector itself is over $430 billion and growing. WAVES 2025 will unite creators, investors, and policymakers, giving rise to a strong ecosystem of storytelling and technology.
