Google’s announcement of a gigawatt-scale AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam marks its largest investment yet in India, with $15 billion planned over five years. PM Modi hailed the project as key to democratizing technology and propelling India’s Viksit Bharat vision, adding huge compute capacity, jobs, and global connectivity for the country.
Key Highlights: Tech Transformation with Bharat at the Core
Gigawatt-Scale Data Hub: The new campus will deliver upto 1GW compute power to meet India’s surging demand for digital services and AI-powered solutions. This purpose-built facility joins Google’s global network of 12 AI data centres, bringing high-performance, low-latency infrastructure on par with leading tech markets.
Economic Impact: Minister of State Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar said the project will generate ₹10,000 crore in revenue and create 25,000–36,000 jobs for Andhra Pradesh. Google partners with Adani Enterprises and Bharti Airtel for green energy and networking, underscoring local enterprise empowerment.
