Ajay Devgn's highly awaited crime thriller, Raid 2, is going great guns at the box office, demonstrating tremendous momentum as it inches closer to the highly sought-after ₹50 crore mark in just three days.
Following a strong opening on May 1, boosted by the Maharashtra Day and Labour Day holidays, the movie raked in an estimated ₹19.71 crore on Day 1. Although there was a decline on Friday, with collections falling to about ₹13.05 crore, Raid 2 recovered on Day 3. Initial trends suggest a massive hike in ticket sales and occupancy, with a 90% increase in ticket sales and morning occupancy rising by 69% from the previous day.
Until the end of Day 3, the Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh-starring film has reached a total of ₹31.61 crore in the Indian box office, industry monitor Sacnilk reports. The film's good content and word-of-mouth have been driving it to the top choice of audiences, with other current Bollywood releases playing second fiddle to it in the theatres.
With night and evening shows also anticipated to contribute even more to the collections, trade analysts believe Raid 2 might easily exceed the ₹50 crore mark by the end of its first extended weekend. The overall performance of the film is remarkable considering the stiff competition and regular working day on Friday.
