GTPL Hathway, India's largest cable TV provider and a Reliance Industries-backed company, has signed a landmark agreement with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) to operate Headend-In-The-Sky (HITS) broadcasting services for the next decade. This advanced satellite-based platform will be established in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and is expected to revolutionize digital content distribution across the country.
With plans to invest ₹100 crore in the project, GTPL Hathway aims to expand its reach into cable-dark areas, particularly in rural and northern India. The HITS service, slated for launch in Q1 FY26, will support up to 900 TV channels and utilize 12 Telkomsat C-band transponders. By eliminating the need for extensive ground infrastructure, HITS technology promises efficient and high-quality broadcasting while reducing operational costs.
This development marks a significant milestone in India's broadcasting sector, enhancing accessibility and connectivity nationwide.
