Halifax has been awarded over $11.7 million in funding to enhance the energy efficiency and longevity of more than 490 homes within the Halifax Regional Municipality. The funding is part of the Canada Greener Affordable Housing Program and the Affordable Housing Fund, which aims to help low- and moderate-income households by upgrading multi-unit residential buildings.
The project is the result of an overall effort to address housing conditions in Nova Scotia, where government housing units will increase to nearly double. New public housing and infrastructure projects are also being financed by the province as part of its $2.35 billion 2025-26 capital plan.
This investment demonstrates the federal government's commitment to making housing more sustainable and affordable for Canadians.
