Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Shiv Nadar's daughter and HCL founder, has become one of India's most influential business leaders. With a Communications degree and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Roshni became Chairperson of HCL Technologies in July 2020 and is the first woman to head an Indian listed IT company.
Born in 1982, Roshni is Shiv and Kiran Nadar's sole child. Her father, a Padma Bhushan awardee, revolutionized India's IT industry, while her mother is a well-known art collector and philanthropist. Roshni's succession was cemented when her father gifted 47% of his holding in HCL Corporation and Vama Sundari Investments to her, becoming the majority shareholder.
This move positions Roshni in charge of HCL, which is a tech giant worth over Rs 40,034 crore globally. Exceeding corporate responsibilities, Roshni works towards philanthropy with the Shiv Nadar Foundation and The Habitats Trust. Married to HCL Healthcare's Vice Chairman, Shikhar Malhotra, Roshni combines responsibilities as a mother and leader alike, following values of responsibility and innovation taught to her by parents.
