Russia Expresses Concern Over India-Pakistan Border Tensions, Reaffirms Strategic Ties

The Kremlin has reiterated its commitment to maintaining strong relations with both India and Pakistan, emphasizing that India remains a strategic partner while Pakistan has also been a valued ally in various matters. Amid rising tensions between the two neighboring nations, Russia has stated that it is closely monitoring the situation at the border with great concern.  

The statement comes in the wake of heightened diplomatic and military activity following the recent Pahalgam attack, which has escalated tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad. Russia has historically maintained balanced relations with both countries, advocating for peaceful resolution of disputes through diplomatic channels.  

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has urged India and Pakistan to engage in dialogue, referencing past agreements such as the Simla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration as frameworks for conflict resolution. The Kremlin’s stance underscores its interest in regional stability, particularly given the broader geopolitical implications of strained India-Pakistan relations.
