Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has announced plans to set up 15–20 world-class startup accelerator centres across India under its AIM 2.0 initiative. The move aims to scale up entrepreneurial support, integrate industry partnerships, and strengthen India’s innovation ecosystem beyond metro cities.
Speaking at the 6th Start-up Onboarding and Success Meet in Coimbatore, Ashish Pandey, innovation lead at AIM, revealed that the mission is preparing to launch 15-20 accelerator centres nationwide. These centres will provide structured mentorship, funding access, and industry collaboration opportunities to startups, helping them transition from incubation to market readiness.
AIM, which is completing its 10-year journey, has already established more than 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs and 100 incubation centres, supported over 500 startups, and generated more than 40,000 jobs. The new accelerator centres are expected to build on this foundation by focusing on scaling innovations and integrating them with industrial applications.
Experts believe this expansion will democratize access to startup resources, bringing opportunities to tier-2 and tier-3 cities, and positioning India as a global hub for entrepreneurial growth.
