Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has applied for a new design patent for the 2025 Scoopy, fueling rumors of the launch of this retro-futuristic scooter in the Indian market. Although the patent does not guarantee an imminent launch, it reflects Honda's increasing focus on the fashion-conscious, youth-oriented scooter market, which is a hit in Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines.

Key Highlights
  • Retro-Modern Styling: The 2025 Scoopy retains its classic curved lines with crystal-block LED headlight, round taillight, D-shaped turn signals, and one-piece seat—all blending timeless looks with contemporary flair.
  • Feature-Rich Console: With a full-LCD digital instrument cluster that provides real-time fuel economy, eco gauges, trip odometer, battery voltage, and oil change reminders. Foreign higher trims come with Honda's Smart Key system, keyless start, and anti-theft alarm system.
  • Proven Engine: Driven by a 109.5cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with 9 hp and 9.2 Nm of torque, mated to an automatic CVT transmission—the same proven engine as on Honda's Activa and Dio.
  • Urban-Friendly Hardware: With an underbone frame, telescopic front forks, swingarm rear suspension, 12-inch alloy wheels, and drum brakes supplemented by Honda's Combi Brake System (CBS).
  • Youthful, Practical Design: Easy 746 mm seat height, well-fitting one-piece saddle, and sleek design make it ideal for urban riders and new two-wheeler users.
  • Market Position: Upon launch, the Scoopy would be positioned at fashion-conscious urban consumers, pitting it against the likes of the Yamaha Fascino and Vespa S.
Launch Opportunities

Despite the hype, Honda has a history of Indian patent filing of global models primarily for intellectual property purposes with no guarantee of Indian market introduction. Previous patents of models like the NPF125 and CB190TR never led to Indian introductions. However, the regular patent filing and growing popularity of premium, retro-styled scooters leave the door open for a possible introduction in the second half of 2025.

"The 2025 Honda Scoopy is a good union of retro-style looks and new-school functionality… If the Scoopy were to be brought here, it might well redefine style expectations in the 110cc class."
