India’s domestic aviation market is set for fresh competition as Shankh Air prepares to launch operations in early 2026. Alongside Al Hind Air and FlyExpress, which recently secured government approvals, these new entrants aim to challenge the dominance of IndiGo and Air India, expanding passenger choice and regional connectivity.

Impact On Aviation Market
The entry of Shankh Air, Al Hind Air, and FlyExpress comes at a time when India’s aviation sector is among the fastest-growing globally. With IndiGo and Air India dominating the market, new carriers are expected to increase competition, improve service quality, and potentially lower fares. The government’s approvals reflect its intent to broaden participation and prevent monopolistic trends, ensuring passengers benefit from greater choice and connectivity.
Future Outlook
Industry experts believe the success of these new airlines will depend on their ability to scale operations, manage costs, and sustain profitability in a competitive environment. If executed well, their entry could reshape India’s aviation landscape, offering travelers more options and strengthening regional air networks.
