Salman Khan's long-awaited action movie Sikandar, which had a big Eid 2025 theatre release, is out now on Netflix. AR Murugadoss directed the film, starring Rashmika Mandanna in a central role, as it looks to make a new innings online after a mixed reception at the box office. Here's all you need to know about the OTT launch of this Bollywood biggie.
OTT Release Details
Sikandar is currently streaming on Netflix since May 25, 2025, after its theatrical launch on March 30, 2025.
The digital release was officially confirmed by Netflix India with a new poster and the tagline: "Sikandar aa gaya hai Netflix par raj karne" ("Sikandar is here to rule on Netflix").
About the Film
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by AR Murugadoss, Sikandar has Salman Khan as Sanjay Rajkot (aka Sikandar), a kind-hearted leader who battles corruption and upholds justice.
Rashmika Mandanna is the heroine, while Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, Sathyaraj, and others play supporting roles.
The story revolves around Sikandar's fight against a corrupt minister and his son, juxtaposing high-octane action and emotional drama.
Box Office and Reception
The movie released well, collecting more than ₹100 crore in India and more than ₹200 crore globally, but was deemed disappointing in comparison to Salman Khan's standards.
Commercially successful or not, Sikandar was criticized for its direction, execution, and performances, with many fans and critics left disappointed.
The digital rights were said to have been sold to Netflix for approximately ₹85 crore, with the producers able to recover a large portion of their investment.
Fan and Social Media Reaction
Although the OTT release created a buzz, the social media response has been divided with some fans telling others to avoid the film and others feeling let down with the movie's quality.
Still, the launch of the movie on Netflix provides an alternative window of chance for viewers who have not seen the action drama in theatres to view the action drama from home.
