India celebrates a first in solar physics as the Indian Institute of Astrophysics hosts an international conference marking 125 years of the Kodaikanal Solar Observatory (KSO). The event is held in Bengaluru from January 20-25, 2025, with more than 200 solar physicists coming together to discuss cutting-edge research on solar magnetism, space weather, and solar-stellar connections. This gathering not only celebrates India's rich legacy in solar astronomy but also showcases its continued contributions to global solar research, the recent Aditya-L1 mission being one.
