Sowing Success: India Prepares for a Landmark Rice Season

India is heading for its biggest rice harvest ever in the upcoming 2025–26 season. This isn’t just good news for Indian farmers; it could also shake up the global rice market, especially since India is already the world’s top rice exporter.

Forecasts suggest India could produce about 151 million tonnes of rice, which would be its highest ever and even more than China is expected to grow this year.
