Delhi recorded its highest temperature in 2025 on March 26, when the mercury hit a scorching 40.1°C at the Ridge Observatory, the year's highest so far. Safdarjung recorded 38.9°C, an astonishing 7.4°C above normal. The heatwave-like condition is not a standalone instance in North India, as the mercury will remain high for the next week.
The air quality in the city also deteriorated to dangerous levels and people were instructed to take measures. There are high winds forecast from March 27 to 29, which may bring some relief but won't cause any drop in temperatures.
Residents are reminded to hydrate and avoid going out during the hottest part of the day.
