Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) is set to welcome a 20,000 sq ft Skill Development Centre in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be inked next week. The initiative is a major leap towards building a robust talent pipeline for Maharashtra's industry.
Key Highlights
- The facility will be based at AURIC Hall and will be industry-based skill development with a focus on youth and budding entrepreneurs
- DPIIT Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia gave the project approval during his Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar visit, noting its intention to draw Global Capability Centre (GCC) investments and set up R&D centers
- The hub is part of a broader plan to position AURIC as a world-class manufacturing and innovation hub.
Strategic Vision and Stakeholder Engagement
- The Secretary's visit included interaction with industry groups like MASSIA, CMIA, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, and MAGIC
- Stakeholders proposed more connectivity to Aurangabad, Hyderabad, and Chennai, a Vande Bharat terminal, as well as improved logistics at Bidkin
- Proposals also included raising MSME land reservation to 40 percent from 10 percent and reserving 10 percent for start-ups.
Inclusive Development Push
- Stress was laid on the importance of aligning PMAY 2.0 subsidies with state housing policies to facilitate inclusive residential growth - The hub would conform to AURIC's balanced growth model, where 60 percent of land is reserved for industry and 40 percent for residential, educational, and health facilities.
