Tamil Nadu Budget 2025: ₹3,500 Crore for 1 Lakh New Houses Under 'Kalaignar Kanavu Illam Thittam'

Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu unveiled the state's 2025-26 Budget, declaring the development of one lakh new homes under the 'Kalaignar Kanavu Illam Thittam' plan with an allocation of ₹3,500 crore. Other major announcements are ₹6,668 crore for drinking water schemes for 29.74 lakh people, ₹77 crore for Thozhi hostels for 800 working women, and ₹275 crore for hostels for students. The ₹1,500 crore Adyar river restoration scheme is to be completed in 15 months. The Budget also has provisions for 'Anbucholai' centers for elderly people in 25 districts and an annual World Tamil Olympiad with ₹1 crore prize money.
