Tamil Nadu’s Marine Elite Force: Safeguarding Chennai’s Coast & Biodiversity

Tamil Nadu has launched a Marine Elite Force to patrol and protect the Chennai coast, following rising concerns over Olive Ridley turtle deaths. With an initial budget of ₹96 lakh, the force will monitor fishing activity, safeguard marine habitats, and enforce conservation laws, strengthening the state’s marine biodiversity protection efforts.
