At the annual Kadapa Mahanadu of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today, party national general secretary Nara Lokesh took the lead with a sweeping six-point resolution designed to revitalize the party to meet the new demands of Telugu people. In his address, Lokesh focused on TDP's legacy, youth empowerment, women’s rights, social justice, farmer assistance, and cadre empowerment to establish a future agenda.

While TDP leaders along with Mahanadu delegates applauded Lokesh's leadership and aspirational agenda, TDP made no formal announcements declaring Lokesh the “king-in-waiting” or successor to TDP regional supremo Chandrababu Naidu. Rather, Lokesh called for unity and transformation and directed party leaders and members to re-affirm TDP's mission in the global recognition and welfare of the Telugu people.

The Mahanadu runs from May 27 until May 29, with attendance from senior leaders, MLAs, and party workers from across the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and is coincidentally set on the birthday of TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao. Mahanadu is expected to finish with a public meeting with speeches by both Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh.
