Meteorological offices have sounded the alarm for thunderstorms, rain, and gusty winds that are likely to give the region temporary relief. As much-needed relief from the heat, though, experts caution that the respite is not likely to be of a lasting nature. Delhi-NCR is expecting thunderstorms, rain, and windy conditions of up to 50 km/h, primarily during the evening of May 7 and again on May 9, providing some relief from the current heatwave.

Temperatures will fall a little, with cloudy weather and patchy rain providing fleeting relief. The respite will be short-lived, though, as hazy sun and warming temperatures are predicted to return by the weekend and next week.

Storm winds will reach 30-40 km/h, sometimes gusting up to 50 km/h, so residents will need to remain vigilant for quick changes in weather, particularly in the evening.
