The Bharthana Toll Plaza in Gujarat has created a stunning record, collecting around Rs 400 crore every year in the last five years. It is situated on the high-traffic Vadodara-Bharuch section of National Highway 48 and acts as a key connection between Delhi and Mumbai, carrying high-volume goods traffic. This toll plaza performed better than others, with the second-highest collection being Rs 378 crore from Rajasthan's Shahjahanpur. The figures, made public by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, point out that 14 toll plazas in India had collections of over Rs 200 crore per year. The effect of the FASTag system is also seen, improving the efficiency of toll collection on the vast national highway network.
