Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a path-breaking project to fight pollution by setting up an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) for monitoring air, water pollution, noise levels, and waste management in real time. Declared on the occasion of presentation of the 2025-26 budget, the ICCC will have a special allocation of ₹30 crore. Besides, ₹506 crore is allocated for the environment and forest departments, out of which ₹300 crore is allocated particularly for pollution controlling measures.
The ICCC will monitor six new Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS), taking the total to 46, and 32 Water Quality Monitoring Stations on the Yamuna River. The move is expected to improve environmental governance and public health as well as address issues of traffic congestion and disaster management. Gupta stressed the significance of these steps in making Delhi a cleaner, healthier place to live.
