In a big fillip to educational equality, the autonomous body of the Maharashtra government, the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research & Training Institute (MAHAJYOTI), has initiated a mass program to provide free entrance exam books to over 7,000 OBC students in the state. This initiative under the Pustak Sanch Watap Yojana aims to assist OBC students who are studying for competitive exams such as JEE, NEET, and MHT-CET.
Key Highlights:
-
Widespread Reach: Beneficiaries hail from all 36 districts of Maharashtra, with the highest registrations from Jalgaon, followed by Amravati, Dhule, Buldhana, and Ahmednagar.
-
Comprehensive Support: Students registered under MAHAJYOTI’s training programs will receive essential study materials for their respective entrance exams, helping bridge the resource gap for economically disadvantaged families.
-
Government Commitment: Minister Atul Save of the Other Backward and Bahujan Welfare Department appreciated the large turnout and reiterated the government's commitment to helping OBC students achieve their educational goals.
-
Voices from the Ground: Parents such as Kiran Nimje from Nagpur and Sheetal Nagargoje from Amravati showed immense gratitude, citing how the scheme has alleviated financial stress and allowed their children to follow their academic ambitions.
-
Continuing Mission: MAHAJYOTI keeps on empowering students from OBC, Deprived Castes-Nomadic Tribes, and Special Backward Classes, so that no worthy student is deprived of an opportunity because of financial constraints.
This programme is a reflection of the state's dedication to accessible and inclusive education, providing a level-playing field to thousands of young candidates to compete for seats in competitive exams.
