Vesuvius India Ltd., a leading player in refractory solutions, has officially commenced commercial operations at its new manufacturing facility in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This strategic expansion includes alumina-silica (AlSi) and basic monolithic plants, complementing the earlier commissioned Mould Flux unit. Together, these facilities are set to add 250,000 tonnes to Vesuvius’s annual production capacity, significantly strengthening its position in the steel and foundry supply chain.
The Visakhapatnam complex is designed to serve both domestic and export markets, aligning with the company’s commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The new units will manufacture high-performance refractory materials essential for iron and steel production, including castables, gunning mixes, and precast shapes.
This operational milestone follows the plant’s inauguration in November 2024 and reflects Vesuvius’s long-term vision to localize manufacturing, reduce import dependency, and enhance supply chain agility. The company’s CEO emphasized that the facility will also support sustainable manufacturing practices, with a focus on energy efficiency and waste reduction.
With this expansion, Vesuvius India is poised to meet rising demand from core sectors such as steel, cement, and non-ferrous metals. The Visakhapatnam plant is expected to play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and operational resilience in FY26 and beyond.
