Vietnam recently experienced a remarkable spiritual event, with over 17.8 million devotees coming together for a month-long celebration of Lord Buddha’s sacred relics, which were brought all the way from India. These cherished relics, hailing from Nagarjuna Konda and kept safe at Sarnath, made their way through nine major cities and provinces in Vietnam, from Ho Chi Minh City to Quang Ninh, attracting record crowds and bringing the nation together in prayer and contemplation.
Key Highlights
• Initially set for just 20 days, the exposition was extended to a full month due to the incredible public interest and reverence shown.
• The sacred relics received a warm welcome at famous pagodas, including Quan Su in Hanoi, as part of the United Nations Day of Vesak 2025 celebrations.
• This event highlighted the strong spiritual and cultural connections between India and Vietnam, with both governments and Buddhist communities working hand in hand.
• The pilgrimage wrapped up with a grand farewell in Da Nang before the relics made their journey back to India for public display and enshrinement in Sarnath.
