Vodafone Idea Launches 5G in Mysuru with Unlimited Data and Green Tech Integration

Vodafone Idea (Vi) officially launched its 5G services in Mysuru on July 11, making it the second city in Karnataka to receive Vi’s nextgen connectivity after Bengaluru. The rollout is part of Vi’s phased expansion across 17 priority circles where it holds 5G spectrum.
 
Key Highlights:
  • Mysuru users with 5Genabled smartphones can now access Vi’s 5G network with unlimited data as part of an introductory offer on plans starting from ₹299.
  • Both prepaid and postpaid users are eligible, provided they recharge with at least the ₹239 plan.
  • Vi partnered with Samsung to deploy energyefficient infrastructure and AIpowered SelfOrganising Networks (SON) that automatically optimize performance.
Network Enhancements:
  • Vi has upgraded its 4G network across Karnataka to support the 5G rollout:
  • 900 MHz spectrum deployed at over 3,000 sites for better indoor coverage.
  • 2100 MHz spectrum doubled at 1,900+ sites and added to 1,600+ new locations.
  • 1800 MHz capacity expanded across 4,400 sites.
  • These upgrades led to a 41% increase in overall network capacity in Karnataka between March 2024 and May 2025.
User Experience:
  • Subscribers can expect faster downloads, smoother video conferencing, lowlatency gaming, and improved cloud access.
  • Vi’s 5G services are now live in six cities: Mumbai, DelhiNCR, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Patna, and Mysuru.
  • The company plans to expand to 23 more cities, including Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, and Vizag.
