According to a recent survey, 56% of Bengalureans sleep less than six hours a night, indicating a worsening sleep crisis in the city. The most common reasons are waking up to go to the washroom, late nights, and early risings. This is reflective of a larger national trend, where 61% of Indians say they get less than six hours of unbroken sleep. Sleep deprivation has been associated with higher cardiovascular disease, weight gain, and cognitive impairment risks. Experts are calling for improved sleep hygiene and lifestyle changes to counter these health risks.
