Cinematographer Binod Pradhan recently shared his experiences while making Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus, Devdas, from the year 2002. The production of the film transpired over a couples of year, which led to financial troubles because of the size of the production and attention to detail. Pradhan stated that the lighting that used up large generators throughout their sets led to cancellations of weddings in Mumbai or ones being put off. Bhansali remained committed to his vision and urged Pradhan, despite the financial constraints he faced, not to compromise on quality. It was ambitious in its production design: a kilometer-long set for Chandramukhi's place, revealing Bhansali's never-say-die spirit in the face of financial wrangling.
