In its 79th Annual General Meeting, Wipro announced a stunning strategic changeover: it would be an AI-first, consulting-led organization. Executive Chairman Rishad Premji emphasized that FY25 was a year of change, where artificial intelligence, and to an even greater extent, generative and agentic AI, would be at the core of the company's business and customer engagement.
Wipro's Strategic Shift: Key Points
1. Consulting-Directed Transformation
Wipro is sharpening its focus on consulting-led engagements, leveraging its 2021 acquisition of Capco to establish financial services consulting and grow across sectors. It is looking to become involved earlier in clients' transformational process, creating AI roadmaps and aligning with business goals.
2. AI at the Core
Agentive AI is now embedded across Wipro's internal processes—HR, finance, law, and so on. Autonomous decision-making and operational excellence are powered by over 200 intelligent agents that have been developed in partnership with hyperscalers.
3. Workforce Upskilling
Ninety-five percent of employees have initially received basic GenAI training, with over 87,000 receiving advanced, role-based upskilling. Wipro is building an AI-first talent pool to support its transformation goals.
4. Client and Financial Impact
Wipro sealed 63 large deals worth $5.4 billion in FY25 with AI being at the center of every deal now. The company will return 70 percent of net profit to shareholders in three years from FY26, indicating optimism regarding its growth trajectory.
5. Leadership Vision
CEO Srinivas Pallia highlighted the company's emphasis on building AI-based solutions and spending on talent, culture, and innovation to navigate macroeconomic volatility and build long-term value.
