India has taken a landmark step in healthcare by releasing its National Evidence-Based Guidelines for Lung Cancer Treatment and Palliation. The framework, developed under the Department of Health Research (DHR) and launched by Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda in New Delhi, provides 15 evidence-informed recommendations tailored to India’s healthcare realities.
The guidelines address critical challenges such as late detection, uneven treatment practices, and limited access to palliative care. By introducing a standardized approach, the framework ensures that patients across both public and private healthcare systems receive uniform, high-quality, and patient-centric care.
Experts emphasize that this initiative will not only improve survival rates but also enhance quality of life for patients and families, especially through stronger palliative care integration.
