The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning of severe thunderstorms in the North West's central and eastern districts and eastern parts of the Free State. Severe damaging winds, local flooding, and the potential damage of infrastructure are probable effects of the storms. It is warned to be cautious while exercising safety especially in the vicinity of rivers and low-lying areas as stream flow rapidly running is risky to life.
Furthermore, extremely high fire danger conditions are forecast for the Breede Valley Municipality in the Western Cape. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to exercise caution due to slippery roads and poor visibility. SAWS urges communities to stay informed and follow safety guidelines to reduce risks.
