Vijayawada: Chief Secretary K Vijayanand held an exhaustive review meeting to monitor preparations for the 11th International Yoga Day to be observed in Visakhapatnam on June 21. The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will be the chief guest. The event, with the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," is likely to attract nearly two lakh people, aided by the Union Ministry of AYUSH, Art of Living, Isha Foundation, Yoga Sports Association, the universities, and other organizations.
Andhra Pradesh government has initiated the "Yogandhra-2025" program to spread the goodness of yoga in the state. There would be an action plan of four weeks from May 29 with yoga awareness drives at the district, assembly constituency, village, and school levels. Proper preparation was stressed by the Chief Secretary and appointed Special Chief Secretary of Medical and Health MT Krishnababu as state-level nodal officer. Class 8 to postgraduate students of Visakhapatnam, AYUSH Mission representatives, yoga instructors, sports associations, PETs, coaches, and central government institutions will join the program.
AYUSH Ministry Secretary Rajesh Kumar, who participated online from Delhi, assured two lakh T-shirts and yoga mats would be provided, with complete support guaranteed for the success of the event. The venue at Visakhapatnam is yet to be decided. Other important participants included Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena and AYUSH Director Dinesh Kumar.
