Zeenat’s Cinematic Curveball: How a Blink-and-Stun Role in 'Hum Kisise Kum Naheen’ Became Iconic

Veteran actress Zeenat Aman recently went on social media to reveal the history behind her legendary cameo in the 1977 hit tale Hum Kisise Kum Naheen. She revealed that Nasir Hussain, the director, offered her the special appearance after the blockbuster hit of Yaadon Ki Baaraat, where she had worked. Zeenat discussed how her work was limited to a single qawwali number and a love scene with Rishi Kapoor, whom she had otherwise shared minimal screen space and interaction with.

 

Aman humorously explained how, due to Hindi cinema's conservative gender roles that frowned upon actresses being taller than their male co-stars, Rishi Kapoor was propped up on not one but two pillows during their love scene so that he would appear taller than her. This candid anecdote captures both the charm and the challenges of old-school Bollywood filmmaking.
