NITI Aayog's New Report: Empowering Women in India's Financial Sector

NITI Aayog's new report, "From Borrowers to Builders: Women's Role in India's Financial Growth Story," reveals a remarkable 42% rise in women actively tracking their credit, up to 27 million by December 2024. The report points towards increasing financial literacy among women, with their contribution to the self-monitoring credit base increasing to 19.43%. Non-metro areas surpassed metro cities in credit monitoring growth. Women's share in business loan participation has grown by 14% since 2019, and now account for 35% of business borrowers. NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam highlighted the significance of access to finance for women entrepreneurs and launched the Financing Women Collaborative (FWC) to overcome structural constraints and encourage specialized financial products for women.
