• Prasar Bharati’s Position: The public broadcaster told the Delhi High Court that acquiring FIFA rights is not its responsibility, as it falls outside its public service mandate. 
• Court Action: Petitions argued that the World Cup is a “sporting event of national importance” under the Sports Broadcasting Signals Act, 2007, and should be shown on DD Sports. The matter remains unresolved.
