CFA Survey Finds Indian Graduates Ready For Careers Despite AI Disruption

The CFA Institute’s 2026 Graduate Outlook Survey, covering 9,000 students globally, included 1,250 Indian respondents aged 18–25. Despite rising concerns about automation and AI reshaping the workforce, Indian graduates remain highly optimistic about their career readiness, outperforming the global average in confidence levels.

Confidence In Career Skills

• 93% of Indian graduates believe they have the skills to succeed in their chosen careers.
• 83% expressed confidence in securing professional jobs despite economic uncertainty.
• Graduates reported strong awareness of what employers seek in talent, reflecting adaptability and ambition. 

Preferred Career Sectors

• Finance emerged as the most attractive sector, followed by information technology.
• Both industries are seen as stable and future-ready, offering resilience against AI disruption.
• India’s volving job market and economic momentum are encouraging graduates to pursue opportunities at home, even as many consider studying abroad. 

Role Of Certifications And Upskilling

• 98% of respondents said professional certifications and upskilling are essential in today’s competitive job market.
• 69% believe certifications offer greater career value than postgraduate degrees.
• 82% felt certifications improve earning potential and provide a competitive edge.
• The CFA Program continues to be viewed as a high-impact credential for global careers. 

Concerns About AI Disruption

• 74% of graduates fear AI and automation may make jobs harder to secure.
• However, 81% feel equipped to work alongside AI technologies, showing readiness to adapt.
• Graduates are prioritizing practical, workplace-ready skills and early exposure through internships over immediate postgraduate study.
