NRIs Adopt Green Heritage: Tree Planting Program Turns Homeland Green

Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) are being urged to sow trees on their native lands as part of a pioneering scheme that marries green conservation with heritage protection. The "Gold for NRIs, Green for Punjab" initiative, led by NRI Sabha Punjab, presents a two-pronged advantage: safeguarding NRI-owned properties from encroachment and adding to India's afforestation process. This forward-thinking strategy enables NRIs to hold on to their heritage while potentially generating sizeable returns via wood sales and carbon credits. The initiative aligns with Indian national objectives of forest cover expansion and climate change mitigation, exemplifying a blend of economic development and ecological protection.
