Nurturing Rural Roots: Maharashtra Irrigates Farmer Welfare with Rs 3,000 Increase

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis raised the state-funded Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana (NSMNY) by a significant amount. The state government will raise its contribution by Rs 3,000 annually, taking the total contribution to Rs 9,000 per farmer. The hike, combined with the Rs 6,000 contribution from the central government's Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, will see eligible farmers receiving a total of Rs 15,000 annually. The move is a reflection of Maharashtra's attempt to build its agricultural economy and reduce financial pressures on farmers. Fadnavis also announced a significant water transport scheme from the Gosikhurd dam to cater to seven districts in drought-affected areas.
