Only 1/3rd Electoral Trusts Received Donations in FY24: ADR Report

A recent report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) reveals that only six out of 19 registered electoral trusts received donations in FY 2023-24, amounting to ₹1,218.39 crore. The BJP emerged as the largest beneficiary, receiving ₹856.45 crore (70.3%), while Congress and regional parties shared the remaining funds. Major donors included ArcelorMittal and DLF, contributing ₹100 crore each. ADR flagged transparency concerns, urging reforms to ensure accountability in political funding and recommending withdrawal of inactive trusts' registration.
