Over 18.8 Lakh EVs Benefit from FAME II Incentives in India

As of February 2025, over 1.88 million electric vehicles (EVs) have benefited from incentives under India’s Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) II scheme. This program, which wrapped up in March 2024, played a crucial role in accelerating EV adoption across different categories.  The initiative supported around 1.615 million electric two-wheelers, 159,000 three-wheelers, 22,548 four-wheelers, and 5,131 e-buses. This increase in EV usage is in line with India’s objective to cut carbon emissions and encourage sustainable transportation.  The government allocated approximately ₹8,844 crore for the scheme, which included ₹6,577 crore in subsidies. Furthermore, 10,985 EV chargers were approved, with 8,812 designated for installation, thereby improving the nation’s charging infrastructure.
