PDP Leader Iltija Mufti to Start Signature Campaign for Alcohol Prohibition in J&K

Iltija Mufti, senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will be launching a signature campaign today seeking a total prohibition of alcohol in Jammu and Kashmir. The signature campaign will be organized at the office of the PDP at Residency Road, Srinagar, from 11 AM to 2 PM. Mufti mentions the horrific effect that alcohol and drugs have on family life and society as the motivator for initiating this campaign. The campaign urges support for the bill moved in the state legislature by PDP MLA Fayaz Ahmad Mir seeking a ban on advertisement, sale, purchase, consumption, and production of liquor in the region. This action follows similar bills introduced by lawmakers from other parties, which reflects increasing political support for the cause.
