Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas Reveals Mother's IIT Madras Dream

Aravind Srinivas, co-founder and CEO of Perplexity AI, recently shared insights into his childhood on Nikhil Kamath's WTF Online podcast. Srinivas, who now leads a company valued at approximately Rs 1.5 lakh crore, recalled his mother's unwavering belief in his future at IIT Madras. "Every time we would go on a bus and pass by the IIT Madras campus, my mom would point to the campus and say, 'This is where you're going to study,'" he reminisced. This expectation shaped his early aspirations. Srinivas also discussed his brief internship in Bengaluru, where he chose to focus on work rather than explore the city due to its notorious traffic. The Chennai-born entrepreneur's journey from his mother's IIT dreams to becoming a leading figure in AI showcases the impact of early influences on his career path.
