Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said that 1,000 tractors will be provided to farmers under the Grow More Wheat project. The 50-horsepower tractors will be provided through an open digital lottery to wheat farmers who are cultivating wheat on more than 12.5 acres of land. The initiative is to promote agricultural mechanization and enhance wheat production in Punjab. The scheme is a part of the Chief Minister's comprehensive agriculture development program, which includes subsidies and interest-free loans for farmers as well. Minister Kirmani emphasized that the scheme will improve the efficiency of agriculture and ensure food security. The tractors are to be provided by March 31, 2025. This scheme is supplemented by other current schemes such as solarization of tube wells and the Smog Control Programme, indicative of Punjab's resolve to develop agriculture. Source: UrduPoint, APP
